Ski bus in Livigno: getting between Mottolino and Carosello

Free buses, lines, times and the Ski Link: how to get around Livigno in winter between the two sides of the ski area, with your skis.

Guides2 min read4 November 2026

Livigno stretches for more than 10 km along the valley and the two ski areas sit on opposite sides. There is no lift between Mottolino and Carosello 3000 yet, so to change sides you take the bus. Skis travel free.

The town buses

  • Four lines, every day from about 7:30 to 20:00, with one run an hour and extra services in high season.
  • The lines connect the lifts, the centre and the outlying areas, including Trepalle.
  • The service is free. The Livigno website ties it to the MyLivignoPass, the card you request from your accommodation.
  • Skis, snowboards and other gear travel free.

Times and lines change from year to year: the current timetables are on the Livigno public transport page and on the website of Autoservizi Silvestri, which runs the service.

The Ski Link

The Ski Link is the free shuttle designed for skiers. When it is running it connects Teola Pianoni Bassi (1), Mottolino (3), Carosello 3000 (11), San Rocco (17) and the centre, at the cross-country school terminal, from 8:00 to 11:15 and from 12:15 to 16:00. Getting from one side to the other takes about 5 minutes.

Check before you go

As of 4 November 2026 the official page lists the Ski Link as suspended and points to the town buses. Before you plan your day, check on skipasslivigno.com whether it is back.

The stops for Skialo

  • Skialo San Rocco: S. Rocco Ski Area 17 stop
  • Skialo Carosello: Carosello 3000 Ski Area 11 stop, 30 metres from the shop
  • Skialo Doss: Skilift Doss 18 stop

The San Rocco shop can also be reached on skis: from Carosello 3000 you can ski down towards the San Rocco Ski Area, lift number 17.

The link that is coming

A two-section gondola with 10-seat cabins and a capacity of 1,800 people an hour is planned between Carosello, Freita and Valfin, and will join the two sides. It is expected to open for the 2027/28 season, depending on how the work progresses.

Tips to save time

  • Early morning and late afternoon are the busiest times: if you can, set off earlier or come back later.
  • If you are staying far from the lifts, collect your gear at the point closest to the slope, not the one closest to your hotel.
  • Have a look at the piste map: the lift numbers are the same as the stop numbers.

If you do not have your gear yet, book it online and pick the most convenient collection point: with Doss, San Rocco and Carosello, one is always on your way.
