The New Carosello 3000 gondola will make your experience in Livigno ski resort even funnier and comfortable. The gondola lift will be completed in time for the opening of the 2018 season.
New Carosello 3000 Gondola has 10 seats cabins and external ski boxes even suitable to carry fat models (finally!), so way up is more comfortable, faster and takes less time than before. Downtown station is moved about 60 meters below than the previous (will be dismantled) and included in a modern building with the ticket office and an information bureau. The new arrival on top instead is on the right side of the restaurant.
Construction started last autumn, and the new installation is built on the same older line San Rocco-Baite Pel-Lac Salin by Austrian company Dopplemayr (worldwide leader in cableway transport), replacing the previous cubicle yellow-white cabs designed by Italian famous Pininfarina design studio.
The new departure station in the valley is moved about 60 meters from the previous one, in a modern building including ticket and information offices. The arrival station on top is still on the right side of the older structure, which will be incorporated by the extension of the shelter.
The insiders’ comments
Stefano Cusini, General Manager of Carosello 3000: 'In September we've moved forward a lot, and all our Team has done its best to achieve goals. Many things are on the right way to be completed but time is tight. We cannot 100% ensure that new gondola will be ready for the season beginning, due to the weather conditions, but there is cautious optimism in the air.’
Simone Tomelleri, Doppelmayr Project Manager, says: 'We have built longer lifts in more rough areas. New Carosello 3000 challenge is different which is just as exciting: the timing of the project completion. Summer is very short in Livigno, and heavy snowfalls could come at any time here. It's a hard race against time.’
Progress status
New Carosello 3000 stations are almost completed, and all the 29 pylons are now anchored on the mountain. In the last few days cable has been installed and now this goes to put on the cabins. If weather conditions will be right, complete building works and get as far as possible will be the target before the last decisive step: the final shakedown.
