Test & Review

The Skialo team tested the new Völkl Racetiger GS 2018 on the local resort's slopes, in Mottolino and Carosello ski areas. This ski delivers a genuine advantage through the latest generations of Völkl's torsion box construction, a denser core along the ski edge which increases edge hold, and UVO Technology - a dampening device built into the ski tip - along with a slightly rockered tip. These attributes provide quicker turn initiation, super-fast edge changes and incredible stability. It takes all the best elements of a race ski to give you a smooth ride with fantastic carving capabilities.

Its incredible edge grip also enhances its excellent race performance at speed, allowing you to dig into your turns and work on your long radius technique. It provides for brilliant carving thanks to its thin 70mm waist, with comfortable, fast edge to edge transition that makes GS style skiing a lot of fun. For a silky smooth, stable ride that will push younger, developing skiing enthusiasts to the best of their abilities on the piste, the Volkl Racetiger GS 2018 is a fantastic choice.

Recommended for: advanced/expert skier, with good skiing skills.

Ski features

Bindings: RMotion 16 GW Race, developed in coordination with Marker, is a complete system whose new, significantly lighter race plate ensures optimal flex and grip. DIN-ISO: 6.0-16.0

UVO is the first freely rotating, 360° vibration damper to use cutting-edge dampening technology to minimise disruptive vibration. The terrain or surface below the ski inevitably generates waves, which in turn set the shovel in particular into motion in all directions. It significantly disrupts the smoothness of the ski-ride and makes it harder to hold an edge. The revolutionary UVO technology counteracts this, with proven dampening or reduction of vibrations in the horizontal and vertical directions as well as along the length of the ski. Riding on the Völkl Racetiger GS 2018 becomes smoother, and the edge grip improves.

Speedwall Multilayer wood core: The Völkl Racetiger GS 2018 sidewall is laminated to extremely stable layers of wood on the sides of the sandwich core. This is combined with a more flexible, lighter wood in the centre of the core.

Powered by Titanium: The titanium setup makes the ski agile and dynamic. Especially fans of a hard, fast and aggressive style benefit from the quick response of this construction.
