New Carosello 3000 gondola: completing the 3 stations
The new Carosello 3000 cableway of San Rocco-Livigno has been constructed in record time during the summer break of 2017. The lift has been open to the tourists on December 16th of past 2017 season, with the three new stations buildings (start, intermediate, arrival) still to be completed externally. Now, after the summer bike season closing, is time to finish the job! Carosello 3000 gondola’s figures are remarkable. More than 200 workers employed in its construction. Three entirely new stations buildings and two consecutive plants with a total length of 2794 metres, over an altitude drop of 905 metres. New 68 ten-seats cabins will travel at a speed of 6 metres per second and reach the top in only 10 minutes (including landing/boarding timing at the intermediate station). Hourly flow is currently fixed at 1800 persons per hour, but the potential is much higher, up to 3600 persons per hour. A 54 mm steel cable carries the cabins and is towed by four 670 kW power output engines, the first two located at the intermediate station and the other two at the top of the mountain. Finally, the three new stations are going to be completed before the next 2018/2019 winter season. Rumours say that the bottom one will include an underground car parking and a ski deposit plenty of heated lockers. Stay connected to Skialo and we’ll keep you updated!
