The 2026/27 winter season in Livigno starts on Saturday 28 November 2026 and runs until Sunday 2 May 2027. That is more than five months of skiing on 115 km of slopes, with the town at 1,816 metres and the highest lift-served point at 2,794 metres.

Season dates for 2026/27

  • Lifts open: Saturday 28 November 2026
  • Lifts close: Sunday 2 May 2027
  • Promotional period: 28 November to 18 December 2026 and 10 April to 2 May 2027
  • Regular season: 19 to 25 December 2026, 9 to 29 January and 30 March to 9 April 2027
  • High season: 26 December 2026 to 8 January 2027 and 30 January to 29 March 2027

The period sets the ski pass price: an adult day pass costs €51.50 in the promotional period and €74.50 in high season. All the prices are in our Livigno ski pass guide.

What to expect early and late in the season

Not every slope and lift starts on 28 November: how many are running depends on the snow and the temperatures in those weeks. In spring the ski area shrinks a little at a time. On 20 April 2026, for example, 21 of the 31 lifts were open, the lower slopes towards the town were closed and the Carosello 3000 gondola opened early, at 7:45, to make the most of the morning snow.

On the plus side these are the cheapest periods, and they are also when the Skipass Free offer applies: from 28 November to 19 December 2026 and from 10 April to 2 May 2027 the ski pass comes with your stay at participating properties.

What is new on the slopes

A chairlift above the slopes in Livigno

If you have not been for a few years, you will find the new 10-seat Mottolino gondola, which climbs in just over 5 minutes against 9 on the old lift, the 8-seat Monte Sponda chairlift with heated seats and, on the Carosello 3000 side, the 6-seat Altavista chairlift that reaches 2,794 metres. The full picture is in our guide to the lifts.

If you do not ski

  • Livigno is a duty-free zone: the town is lined with shops selling sportswear, electronics and perfume at good prices.
  • Pizzoccheri and local cheeses in the town restaurants and the mountain huts.
  • Pools and spa at Aquagranda and in the hotels.
  • Snowshoeing, fat biking and snowmobiles, if you want the snow without the skis.
  • Events and concerts in the evening, especially in high season.

Getting to Livigno in winter

By car from Italy you come over the Foscagno Pass, open all year: from 15 October to 30 April you need winter tyres or chains. The Forcola Pass is closed in winter. From the north you enter from Switzerland through the Munt la Schera toll tunnel. Opening hours and closures change, so check them on the official Livigno website before you set off, and carry valid ID.

By train you can reach Tirano and continue on the Perego bus via Bormio to Livigno, or Zernez on the Rhaetian Railway and then the Silvestri bus. The most used airports are Milan Malpensa, Linate, Bergamo and Verona, then Zurich, Innsbruck and Munich: in winter the Livigno Express runs a shuttle from the airports.
